Finalist Week Highlights

More than 170 applicants interviewed across 18 agencies for placements in the executive branch during finalist interview week last month. Current and alumni fellows served on information panels, coordinated interviews on behalf of their host offices, and worked together to organize networking lunches and happy hours throughout the week. Thank you to everyone who pitched in to make finalist week a resounding success!

Completing – and Ending – Your Fellowship

As the end of the fellowship year comes into sight, now is the time to turn your attention to how to “Complete the Fellowship in Good Standing.” Start developing a plan now to wrap up projects and assignments with your host office and complete all reporting requirements, including the Fellowship Impact Plan, Mid-year Report and Year-end Report (details on the last coming in July).

Under certain circumstances you might find it necessary to end your assignment before the standard fellowship end date. Early departure from a fellowship has funding and contract implications, and it affects relationships with host offices and the integrity of the STPF program as a whole. Consult with STPF before pursuing any type of arrangement for leaving the fellowship early. If you have any questions, your program manager is here to help,

AAAS Forum on the Science & Technology Policy

Thursday & Friday, May 2-3

Engage with the nation’s top S&T policy experts, strengthen existing relationships, and create new ones. The Forum is the foremost public meeting in the U.S. on S&T policy. Dive deep into conversations with key decision-makers at networking sessions and participate in peer-to-peer solution-sharing on issues driving S&T policy. Registration includes entrance to the William D. Carey Lecture and Reception on Thursday, May 2.

A Deeper Look at Public Engagement: How to tailor communications for audiences and locations

Friday, May 17; 9-4 pm

Participate in a day exploring public engagement with science from the perspective of the “who” and the “where.” In the morning, members of the AAAS Dialogue on Science, Ethics, and Religion (DoSER) program will lead an interactive workshop on engaging religious audiences. The afternoon session, hosted by the AAAS Center for Public Engagement with Science and Technology, will help shape your social media identity and engage with the public on various platforms.
