STPF@50: Bringing science to policy for half a century

OSTP Director: Three Shifts Needed for U.S. Science to “Meet the Moment”

A new chapter: In its 50th year, STPF will activate large network of alumni

Congrats to food scientist and entrepreneur Wanida Lewis on her launch of Crescendo Foods Ghana, a nonprofit shared commercial kitchen space. Her 2016-17 fellowship at the State Department gave her the opportunity to “see how science can positively impact the world globally” and live in Ghana “which was a game changer,” she said.

AAAS Center for Scientific Evidence in Public Issues’ new project director is Kate Stoll (STPF classes of 2011-14). “I help solve problems by providing scientific input in a clear and timely manner for local and state decision-making. My fellowships in Congress and at the National Science Foundation were pivotal to my career—they taught me to understand and value the factors beyond science that go into policymaking!”
