The AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowships seeks trainers to provide professional development (PD) programming to the 2016-17 cohort of S&T policy fellows. We recruit trainers, coaches, and facilitators on topics related to communication, leadership, and policy with a focus on the OPM executive core qualifications and fundamental competencies. An integral part of the fellowship experience, the goal of the PD program is to foster fellows’ development as science policy leaders. (This solicitation is for individual workshops and seminars, not for the entire professional development curriculum.)
Learning Tracks and Goals
- Policy: Understand the role of science and its impact on public policy and recognize some of the major forces that influence policy -- lobbying, think tanks, advocacy/special interest groups, and media.
- Communication: Identify the value of outreach and education to non-scientific audiences.
- Leadership: Develop skills to serve effectively as AAAS Policy Fellows, future science policy leaders, and forge successful career paths.
Please see the request for proposals (RFP) below for more details on our programming solicitation. We encourage you to circulate this to your networks and trainers you recommend.
