This section pertains to current and alumni fellows applying for a second Science & Technology Policy Fellowship through AAAS. The deadline to apply is November 1. For information on applying to an Alumni Overseas Fellowship, please see below.
Eligibility Criteria for a Second Fellowship
- Fellows may serve for a maximum of three years in two different Washington, DC-based fellowships. There are four areas: Executive Branch, Judicial Branch, Legislative Branch, and Roger Revelle Fellowship in Global Stewardship. Fellows in an executive branch fellowship sponsored by AAAS have the option of renewing for a second year. All other fellowship areas are one-year only.
- You may not apply to the same fellowship branch as the one in which you currently/formerly serve(d). This applies to fellows sponsored by partner societies as well as fellows who have signed an agreement directly with AAAS. There is an exception to this rule: Fellows sponsored by partner societies who served one year in the executive branch may apply to the executive branch program area through AAAS, but may not serve in the agency in which they held their first fellowship.
- Eligibility for a second fellowship is limited to fellows who have completed their current or prior fellowship in good standing in accordance with the Completion Process and Protocol.
- Fellows and alumni applying for a second fellowship must present a clear and compelling case for a second opportunity, including how the fellow will continue to learn more, and grow professionally in a second fellowship experience.
