The NSF Public Service Award Goes to…
The AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowships is very pleased to have been recognized with the 2014 Public Service Award by the National Science Board (NSB) for our efforts in connecting science with policy and fostering a network of science and engineering leaders who understand government and policymaking. NSB’s Public Service Award for a group honors exemplary public service in promoting public understanding of science and engineering.
"This is a wonderful tribute to the many contributions of our fellows over the years, the value of the investment of the broad collaboration of our partner societies and funders, the staff at the societies who have worked on the fellowships, our own staff, our selection committees, and the host agencies, offices, liaisons and mentors," said Cynthia Robinson, executive director. "Congratulations to all of us!"
Ruth David, Chair of the NSB’s Committee on Honorary Awards, commented, “This program has an incredible history and has had such a positive impact. AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowships have given over 2,500 scientists and engineers the opportunity to work in congressional offices or with federal agencies, learning about policymaking and contributing their skills and insights.” Read the press release here.
