to realistically contribute. However, through this experience—in particular,

less cynical about the work that is done on Capitol Hill."

Vanderbilt University’s Office of Federal Relations has a new assistant director of federal relations – physicist Heather Bloemhard. Heather was a 2017-18 STPF fellow at the Department of Defense and before that, she was the Bahcall Fellow with the American Astronomical Society representing AAS members on Capitol Hill.

Alejandro de la Puente, 2016-18 fellow at NSF, can now be found at the New York Academy of Science as associate director of the Science Alliance. He helps empower the next generation of scientists and engineers through skill-building workshops, online courses, and other activities. He says, “I am thankful for my STPF fellowship as I feel it has prepared me well for this new endeavor.”
