This episode's guest, Joe Pesce, is the Program Director in the Division of Astronomical Sciences at the National Science Foundation. Dr. Pesce is an astrophysicist with 30 years of experience and an expert on super massive black holes. He shares his knowledge about the formation of black holes, the nature of the “event horizon” and super massive black holes in the center of galaxies. He sat down for a chat with Sci on the Fly about how black holes and space science are depicted in popular culture, and what recent sci-fi movies get right and wrong about astrophysics.
